Salt Cellar/Pig

This is a hand thrown ceramic stoneware piece done on a potter's wheel. It is thrown in one piece as a closed form, and then the opening is cut out. These are glazed in either a satin matte black or a red shino glaze. The black glaze offsets the salt nicely for decor and the shino glaze is always a gamble on how it will turn out. This shino will have variations in glaze firing, from orange to gray to green/black, all with a silvery finish and can include a burnout which shows how close it was to the gas fire entering the kiln. These are high fired and very stable. They are handmade forms and may vary slightly from one to the next as will the shino glaze. Another option for these are as votive holders, spoon rests, or even air planters. The look great in the kitchen or on the dining table. The sky is the limit on what these can be used for. Look closely, they do remind me of the doom buggies from my favorite Disney ride.

They are microwave and dishwasher safe. All of my glazes are non toxic.
